Ritamae’s Poetry Corner: Mahogany Whispers

Yesterday, I gave a presentation regarding the importance of UN staff members. My talked focused on why I thought that staff were the greatest asset at a UN organization and without, them the mission or mandate of any UN organization would not come to fruition. Ritamae’s poetry ‘Mahogany Whispers’ which is also the titled of her poetry book, eloquently portrayed what I talked about and today, I share this beautiful poetry with you all. Enjoy.

Mahogany Whispers
When I speak
I do so
with a singular voice
for I am not
a singular being
I am an atom
of humanity
and I share in its history
and experiences
so I speak
with a plethora
of voices
from within
but on behalf
of us all
Ritamae Hyde,
Mahogany Whispers (2010)
