Tis the season to splurge or think twice before spending. It’s been a while since I wrote about this section called The List. For a while now, it represented everything I loved about fashion and the more expensive the better. But life has changed for me in so many directions and so has this list. As I resurrect it for the holidays, let’s just say that I will be writing this with a different mindset. After everything that has happened in the world this year, it’s my humble opinion that we should live each day like it’s our last and try to be a kind to the universe and all it’s people. We have so many people living in poverty, so many refugees who want to see tomorrow, the world is a very ugly place right now and it’s because we often think only about ourselves. But as you go out to splurge this season, my only advice is that you spend your money wisely on things that make sense. For many years, people have asked the question: Do people really want to buy products from Africa? The answer has always being “sort off” with issues of quality and lack of investment blamed if sales are not made. People consistently love and admire things from Africa, and some will even pay more if it our diamond or gold. There are only 1,000 Shinola Oscar de la Renta watches made, individually numbered, and exceptionally designed, a perfect fit in the wrist of any African fashion and style diva. I came across these watches over at Neiman Marcus blog here and I must say that they are really beautiful to look at. Even more, I have become a true fan of the work being done by Shinola is the great city of Detroit, especially their made in America ethos, which I think many African countries can learn and become inspired by.
Anyways, about the Shionla Oscar de la Renta watches, “A close look at this stunning collection shows why the collaboration works: Oscar de la Renta’s bold jewelry meets Shinola’s utilitarian, modern leather goods right in the middle, while making a strong statement when it comes to American-made luxury pieces. “Shinola believes in products designed and manufactured to the highest standards of quality. We both believe that these high standards are best exemplified by American craftsmen,” said Oscar de la Renta CEO Alex Bolen.”
