How to nourish your skin with African Kalahari Desert Salts

The Kalahari Desert is known for its magnificent salt. It is harvested from an area that has never been inhabited or used for industry. In the pristine Kalahari Desert of South Africa, three underground streams converge on a layer of pure salt deposits untouched by man. The pure water dissolves the salt and creates a brine solution that is then gently dried by the desert Sun. What remains are the pure, mineral rich crystals of Kalahari Desert Salt. Far from any trace of air or water pollution at the time the salt is formed, Kalahari Desert salt is often described as “a natural, unadulterated salt, produced free of harmful substances and environmental influences.” With the salt being as old as 280-300 million years old, it is also described as one of the oldest and most original earth salts. The next beauty secret is Charcoal

I am not making this up, but yes, Charcoal is currently trending as the next big thing to hit the beauty and lifestyle industry. Some, like Bloomberg Business describe Charcoal as a “dark detox with cleansing benefits.” Others like net-a-porter’s Edit Magazine characterize Charcoal as “the new black.” Continue reading The next beauty secret is Charcoal

Chloé Love Story: The Next New Parisan Fragrance We Can’t Wait To Try!!!

Do you smell that people! That’s the smell of love, Chloé Love Story to be precise, a new fragrance that tells the story of Paris and romance. This new fragrance is said to “strike the right balance between fresh and feminine,” is “suitable for day and night,” and will be launched this September. While my nose is already tingling and twitching in anticipation for this parfume, it’s the inspiration behind Love Story that’s making me long for this scent like yesterday.
If you have ever been to Paris, I am sure you may have passed by or heard of Pont des Arts, fondly known as the love bridge or the bridge of many padlocks. In essence, lovers come to this bridge, place their lock on it and throw the key into the river. As a former resident of Paris, I was amazed at the sheer number of locks on this bridge and distance people go to ensure that their locks are on the bridge. I mean, you will see padlocks of people from so many countries, signalling (cue in one of my favorite Luther Vandross song) #thepoweroflove.
And so this fragrance tells this tale of love, a Love Story with a bottle subtly shaped like a padlock, an arch adorned with a narrow blush ribbon and a white outer carton with gold lettering. Seriously, don’t even get us started on how chic the bottle looks!!! The fragrance itself is clean, fresh, sexy, and floral, made with notes of orange blossom, neroli and jasmine stephanotis intertwined with musk, wood and white flowers, just the right mixture that will make any woman feel #thepoweroflove. I don’t know about you, but I am so in and I can’t wait to try  Chloé Love Story once it is released this September.

Beauty Look of the day: Blue Makeup

Checkout the beauty look of the day from
“Blue is fun, it’s fresh, it’s super graphic—and it’s really flattering on everyone,” says the makeup artist Gucci Westman of the bright metallic cobalt eye color she created to suit model Grace Mahary’s skin tone for today’s beauty look. After blending a combination of saturated pigments to get the perfect shade, she painted it from the lashlines to just beneath the brow with a brush. “It should feel like a statement.” The rest of the face, says Westman, works as a simple counterbalance: “You want gorgeous skin that looks like you just left the spa and maybe a little bit of lip balm.

Beauty Minute with Rashida Jones

“Morning: I have this wonderful facialist, her name is Mila Moursi, and I use her products. Her cleanser, a pH balance toner and a rejuvenating serum over that. Then I put on an oil free sunblock by Elta MD. Then I will put on this Josie Maran Argan illuminizer, I put a little bit of that under my eyes. I have a Tom Ford foundation that I use as a concealer and then I put on MAC mascara, just basic and simple and makes my eyelashes look long. rashida-jones_beauty-minute_garance-dore

Then I put on Tom Ford bronzer and I use this brand Three Custom Color, it’s a cool company where you can get custom colors made of things you had a long time ago but they also have these really good basic stains that you can put on your lips and cheeks. I use one called Ski Bunny and it’s good because the color is not too concentrated and it gives you a nice little glow. I put that on my cheeks and a little bit on my lips. I also started using that matte/dewy compact that was on the blog.

Day: I always have a concealer and my Three Custom Color stain. I always have way too many lip glosses in my bag. I like Chantecaille and right now I’m loving Tarte Fiery lip stain. If you go out later and you don’t want to go home and change or put on new makeup, you just throw on this really pretty blue-red and it just makes everything better.

Night: I have these Josie Maran makeup remover wipes, if I’m wearing a lot of makeup I’ll do that first. Then I’ll soak my face in a hot towel. Sometimes I’ll do a treatment if I feel like my skin is a bummer. I’ll do a clay mask, like a mud mask from Whole Foods or I’ll do the Dr. Lancer polish. Then I’ll wash my face again with Mila Moursi and then I use her Anti-Age Refining Lotion and then I alternate between her face oil and her face balm. If your face is clean, it won’t break you out.”
