W Magazine’s Banal Redefined: Clever or Fail with the Normcore Trend

What happens when you are all dressed down with nowhere to go? You put on a $61,000 coat by Dior (image below) according to W Magazine’s latest fashion editorial.

But then, why be normal, when you can be normal and then some? Honestly, I don’t get it. If the point is for this magazine editorial to look like it lacks any form of originality so obvious that it is actually boring, then I think they achieved their goal. But what if this is a genius ploy to get readers to take a look at the images again, images that are supposed to characterize average looking clothes-akin to the normcore trend? Well, they achieved that too picturewise.

But the price tags of the pieces in these editorials sans the socks, are certainly not average, the Celine sweater is just as hideous looking as the Celine wedges (image below), and the Manolo Sandals with Adidas sock (image above), extremely tacky, what, normal, average person would really wear this stuff together?

The only image that made sense sans the ugly boy short bow cuts (which by the way are not normal or average looking also) is the image of the models on the floor in a makeshift bedroom it seems (below). I absolute adore the Edun tunic and the Michael Kors sweater, definitely not banal in my opinion.
